Aachen has around 9,100 parking spaces spread across 25 car parks in and around the city centre. The 16 APAG facilities are all linked to a central parking guidance system, so the signs on the approach roads show live availability before you commit to a route.
All five car parks listed here charge the standard APAG rate of €2.50 per hour, with a daily maximum of €18 and a night cap of €8. Sunday and public holidays have a reduced maximum of €6 for the full day. Height limit across all facilities is 1.90 m.
Note that the Rathaus car park is closed for renovation from January 2025 to May 2026. It is normally a popular central option — do not rely on it for this period.
All APAG car parks accept contactless payment
You can pay at the exit machines by card or smartphone. No cash required. APAG also offers monthly subscriptions (Dauerparken) at most locations if you park regularly.

Tips for parking in Aachen
Aachen has a low-emission zone covering most of the city centre. Only vehicles with a green Umweltplakette (environmental sticker) are allowed to enter. If your vehicle does not qualify, you will need to park outside the zone. All five car parks listed here are within or on the edge of the low-emission zone, so make sure you have the correct sticker before driving in.
The APAG parking guidance system shows live space availability on signs throughout the city. You can also check the APAG app or website before you leave to see how full each garage is. During busy periods such as the Christmas market, the Carnival season or CHIO equestrian events, central parking fills up quickly — arriving early or using a P+R location outside the zone is advisable.
Rathaus car park is closed until May 2026
The centrally located Rathaus car park on Mostardstraße is closed for renovation from January 2025 to May 2026. Individual decks will reopen from June 2026 onwards. Do not rely on this garage when planning your visit during this period.
